As their senior year comes to an end and they attend graduation parties and commencement events, Lake Highlands students look forward to one special day in particular – the day they return triumphant to their neighborhood elementary school.

It’s a tradition in LH for elementaries to welcome back their graduates and congratulate them for their successes. Former teachers and principals pass out hugs and handshakes, and the tiny students who’ve replaced them look up to them, literally.

Merriman Park hosted their seniors at a program in their library, where primary students were encouraged to ask the big kids questions about life after sixth grade. The graduates were amazed at how small everything looked, from the desks to the kindergarteners. After refreshments and photos, they again thanked the teachers who laid the foundation for their academic successes.
