Speaking of LH tennis coach Bob Williams (he’s featured in this month’s Advocate Magazine), he’s agreed to assist this summer with a tennis camp for LH area kids entering 1st – 8th grades. LHHS graduates and former team members Meredith Matthews, Nicole Boutin, Sarah Barnett, and Michelle Smith will return from Baylor, UT, and Texas A&M again this summer to offer the camp, this time aided by their former high school coach and mentor. It’s a way for the college students to earn some money and for budding young athletes to have fun, stay fit, and prepare for junior high and high school tennis team tryouts.

“We’d really like to see tennis take off in Lake Highlands,” former doubles district champ Meredith told me, “but not everyone can afford lessons at Royal Oaks. Our camp will be lots of fun, and we’ll offer skills training and strategy to kids interested in pursuing this great sport.” Camps will be held Monday thru Friday, 9 to 11:30 am the weeks of June 8, 15, and 22 at the LHHS tennis courts and the cost is $115 per one week camp. Interested parents can email Meredith Matthews or call Bob Williams at 469-593-1209.
