In previous posts here and here, I said that this Saturday and Sunday the hardy gardeners of the Lake Highlands Community Garden off Goforth would be a buzz of activity with 14K square feet of asphalt demolition, tilling, trenching, piping, etc.  Well, the good City of Dallas folks beat us to the punch (mercifully!).  It all happened unbelievably quickly.  The asphalt is being ripped up by a big ‘ol grader and hauled off by a steady stream of dump trucks as we speak.

While we gardeners will still be working very hard this weekend – and STILL need lots of volunteers – a big chunk (pardon the pun) of that work is now done, thanks to our City partners.
