Boo hoo. Just got off the phone with Toby from Eat The World in Lake Highlands (the Walnut Hill/Audelia corner). They will be closing in "a couple days". He says he’s looking at opening a new location, possibly at Abrams/Royal, in the near future. He says crime in the area led to the restaurant’s undoing. After being robbed about three weeks ago, Eat The World lost valuable supplies and stores of information, not to mention a valuable employee who resigned following the incident. "I had planned to make a move seamlessly, but after she left I just decided to close for a while," says Toby, who plans to have gastric sleeve surgery in the next few weeks (FYI: gastric sleeve surgery is a weight loss surgery similar to gastric bypass, but supposedly safer).
Today until close, everything is 25% off. I always liked this place — especially for Blue Bell ice cream and during crawfish season — I’ll miss it and I wish Toby and the Eat The World crew the best of luck.
