Today was signing day for athletes at Lake Highlands High planning to play college sports, and LHHS had a bigger crop of student athletes than most of us could remember. "Seeing them here wearing their college jerseys makes it all worthwhile," said head counselor Pam Mitchell, who has helped many a Wildcat through the college application process. "All of us here are very proud of each of them."
"The high standards you’ve set will motivate future students at LHHS for years to come," head coach and athletic director Scott Smith told the students. "I hope you’ll enjoy the day. We look forward to watching you play your sport in college."
"It’s been a long process," said Brian Jones, whose son Austin will play football for the Air Force Academy, "but it’s been extremely rewarding. It’s an incredible relief to see him sign on the dotted line." His son agreed. "I have to report to basic training on June 25. It’s gonna be fun."
In addition to the signees mentioned in JJ Pair’s post, below, Antoine Harrison will play football for Harding University, and Tori Mellinger signed to play volleyball with Texas A&M.
