The restaurant was open for lunch at the beginning of last month, and apparently gone by dinner. I put a call in to Consolidated Restaurants, which owns the restaurant, but haven’t heard back. There’s only one Good Eats left in town, on Oak Lawn near Blackburn.
Consolidated, of course, is the restaurant company once run by Gene Street of Dixie House/Black-eyed Pea fame. It owns Cantina Laredo, El Chico, and four other concepts. I checked around, and I was told that the property may be more valuable for sale (it’s appraised at some $800,000) than it is as a restaurant in this economy.
