Even though my daughter is in LHE, I’m on the emailing list to receive the LHHS Weekly Wildcat News.  It’s a great way to keep up with community goings-on.  And it’s efficiently put together and put out by ‘she who has her finger on the pulse of all things LHHS’, Karen Clardy.  (I’ve copied her by doing something similar, albeit more simplistic, for distribution to LHE parents).

I very much want to share what just crossed my desk – a call to give blood.  As a proud member of the 5 gallon club myself, I’m a strong advocate of blood donation.  It’s high tech and painless, doesn’t take much time at all, doesn’t cost any green, doesn’t sap you of strength if you’re already in pretty good shape, is a great excuse for a steak dinner that night, you can only do it about every eight weeks and it absolutely, positively changes and saves lives.  There is no more tangible donation than life’s blood.  That all being said…

Wednesday, December 17th, 8 am to 4 pm in the Lake Highlands High School Library – pump your vein up and lay your arm down!  It’s best to make an appointment and you can do that here.  Walk-ins are certainly welcome but those with appointments will be taken first.  Make sure you have plenty of fluids and something to eat prior to donating and bring a photo ID.  Need more info?  Carter BloodCare, 800-DONATE-4 or carterbloodcare.org.

Thanks for the heads up, Karen!  See you there.
