I don’t know Victoria Loe Hicks except by reputation as one of the more thorough and thoughtful journalists in town; I guess you would have to call her an ex-journalist now that she’s on staff at the J. McDonald Williams non-profit Foundation for Community Empowerment. Anyway, she had an interesting op-ed piece in the News the other day talking about the Trinity issue, and it’s interesting not just because I agree with her conclusions. She gives a little history lesson on how the Trinity River came to be where it is today, and how its relocation back in 1930s made some rich people even richer while its possible neighboring position to the tollroad would have the same impact today. If you’re a YES or a NO on this deal, it’s still an interesting read.
