Here’s some big news from our LHCG organizer A.L. Nickerson for all good folks interested in Organic and Community Gardening. A partnership has been formed between the LHCG and the Texas Discovery Gardens here which means…educational programs will be provided to any and all interested in learning organic gardening. Upcoming will be four classes, the first in early January 2009. It will focus on soil fertility, readying beds, what, when and how to plant. Following will be classes in March, June and October – all corresponding with planting times. The classes will be headed up by Master Horticulturalist Randy Johnson, Horticultural Director with Texas Discovery Gardens. (I understand he once grew a 2 1/2 pound tomato. Now if that ain’t a recommendation I don’t know what is).
