Want some input on the upcoming city budget? Here in Lake Highlands, we’ll have one chance to let councilman Jerry Allen know what we think: 7 p.m. Tuesday at the LH Freshmen Center, 10200 White Rock Trail. A Dallas News blog entry Saturday pointed out that, among councilmen hosting the obligatory budget events, Allen and Mitch Rasansky were the only ones hosting just one event for their constituents. All other councilmen are hosting at least two events in their neighborhoods; seven councilmen are hosting four or five events. The blog suggested this was a problem; I’m not so sure about that, given that Allen’s Lake Highlands council district is a relatively compact neighborhood (unlike, say, Angela Hunt’s, which stretches from East Dallas through portions of downtown to Love Field).
