Just got off the phone with Patty Mulligan, the spokeswoman for the 25-store farmers’ market-style grocery store chain, and she said the company’s plans for expansion in the Dallas area don’t include the town center — "at this point, no."

Instead, Sprouts will open a store in North Dallas/Richardson and far north suburban Murphy later this year. It already has stores in Frisco, Plano, Flower Mound, Southlake, and North Dallas. Most are 28,000 to 35,000 square feet, a little less than half than the size of Central Market.

Last week, Sean Christopher of town center developer Prescott Realty said there would be a "bookstore (one of two big-name stores), a specialty grocery store, and a bunch of women’s clothing."

Sprout’s seems like a good fit for the town center. Mulligan said the company doesn’t worry about being close to Whole Foods and Central Market, and she said it wouldn’t be much of an issue that Whole Foods is opening its uber-store on Park Lane later this year or that Central Market is at Lovers and Greenville. Plus, Sprout’s doesn’t mind being in a dry area.
