Turns out The Grape‘s new owners, Brian and Courtney Luscher, are Lake Highlands residents (along with their almost 2-year-old daughter). The couple took over in recent weeks (Brian was the restaurant’s executive chef from 2001-04), and will be changing little: "Why mess with something that’s worked so well for 35 years?" Courtney points out. But there are a few minor developments at the venerable Greenville Avenue bistro:

1. The Luschers have done some cosmetic updating, including lighting adjustments and new silverware, glassware and china.
2. An expanded by-the-glass wine program.
3. No longer open for lunch, The Grape remains open seven nights a week for dinner.
4. Expect executive chef Brian Luscher to put his stamp on the menu, though you’ll have to visit to find out what that means.

Also, look for more fun stuff in the coming months — which could include, Courtney adds, chef’s cooking classes, "cool, fun" wine dinners and maybe even some catering.

Finally, she added of their four years in Lake Highlands: "We love it. I love East Dallas, and I can’t imagine living anywhere else now."
