In the market for an evening of fine chamber music, up close and personal? Camerata Winds kicks off its 2007-2008 season on Sept. 30. According to the Music Critic from the daily newspaper that no one ever wants to mention by name, "One of the newest of the lower-profile but high-quality ensembles is Camerata Winds. The concert I attended was sophisticated but engaging fare, and everything was played to the hilt." And the ensemble’s Mission Statement is to Inspire, Enlighten and Engage. Having attended several concerts myself, I can assure you they do all that.
The season consists of four concerts. The Sept. 30 concert’s program will feature a Dvorak Serenade. Nov. 4 will be a Beethoven Septet, Feb. 10 a Strauss Sonatina, and April 13 will feature a Soprano, Winds and Piano.
As a bonus: There is always a pre-concert discussion before each concert and a casual reception following. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet the players…up close and personal.
All concerts are performed at First United Lutheran Church, 6202 E. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas. The pre-concert discussions begin about an hour before the show.
