After gliding down runways in New York’s Fashion Week last fall, Kamille Carlisle was headed home to Lake Highlands, ready to return to school and take a break from modeling, when she received a call about a show in China. “My father lives in Hong Kong, so I thought that would be a great opportunity to get over there because I’ve never been,” says the 5-foot, 11-inch, 20-year-old. “When all expenses are paid, you just can’t really say no to that.” Fifty girls from all over the world participated in the international contest, which was broadcast live in , and Carlisle was one of only two representing the . While there, she signed with a Hong Kong agency and will model during that city’s fashion week this month. Other than international travel, another perk of Carlisle’s job is the beautiful clothes that occasionally come with the gigs. “If the person’s nice, and I’m very adamant about voicing how much I like it, then they’ll say just keep it,” she says. Carlisle enjoys working for interesting people such as Nicole Miller and Toni&Guy, but she’s careful to balance modeling with schoolwork. It’s not a career path, she says, “just something while I’m young and I can.”
