There’s nothing particularly useful about them.
They come out of the box for about a month each year and then go right back into storage.
They can be ridiculously cheap (popcorn threaded onto string) or lavishly expensive (ever seen Christopher Radko’s creations?). And many people — whether they hang them on the tree, string them up in windows or suspend them from doorknobs — are obsessed with them.
There’s an ornament devotee in almost every family, and luckily, there’s no shortage of trendy holiday trinkets at a neighborhood store near you.
