Volunteering is a Texas tradition. The Volunteer Center of Dallas County plans to celebrate that tradition by honoring some of our city’s best and brightest volunteers.
During National Volunteer Week, we will salute the men, women and youth who give unselfishly of their time and talents to help others. Almost 200 local nominees will be honored at the 20th annual Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Awards Celebration April 11 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas.
Congratulations to the following Lake Highlands residents nominated for the 20th Annual Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Awards. They are listed with the organizations for which they volunteer: Elly and Joan Feldman, Parkland Health & Hospital System; Merrill Hartman, Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program; Robert Langford, Friendship Force of Dallas; Dorothy McElwain, Christian Care Center; Jennifer Peer, Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas; and Anneliese West, Lake Highlands Exchange Club. The Presbyterian Healthcare System Library Lovers organization also was nominated in the group category for its volunteer efforts with the Vickery Meadow Elementary School.
If you know any of these outstanding volunteers or others who are making a difference in our community, please thank them for their efforts to make our community a better place.
