From my experience in real estate, I can promise you that Lake Highlands High School graduates eventually move back to the neighborhood.

The most recent to return home is 1981 graduate Carol Skrabanek Barrows and husband Jeff Barrows. Carol was a cheerleader in 1981, the year of the state football championship.

Also moving back to Dallas (unfortunately not into Lake Highlands) are David Hood (’84), wife Teresa and two-year-old son Steven.

In 1988, the year he graduated, Eric Brickler played on the first basketball team in 20 years to win both the Coca-Cola and Dr. Pepper tournaments. Eric married his high school sweetheart, Julie Brumfield, and they both attended the University of Oklahoma. Julie works at Medical City Dallas. Eric works in commercial real estate with Mohr Partners. They recently moved to a home in the “M” streets. Julie’s parents still reside in Lake Highlands.

The Class of 1973 had a get-together during homecoming weekend last month. They sat together during the football game. I’m told there was a better turnout at Dave and Busters after the game, where D&B’s served a wider range of beverages than the Boneyard concession stand.

This was only a warm-up for the grand 25th anniversary graduation celebration planned for Memorial Day weekend 1998. For more information about this event, contact Ted Ubben or David Werther by e-mail at tubben@blanks.com or dwerther@compuserve.com.
