Dallas’ medical examiner now has identified the two bodies found inside a conference room on the 7th floor of a northeast Dallas tower’s conference room as Lana Canada (McAree until recent marriage), of Sulphur Springs, and Matthew Kempf, 60, of Allen.

McAree Canada, 48, was a nurse and the mother of seven; her wedding to Dennis Canada was just last month.

Police say Kempf shot McAree Canada and then turned the gun on himself. The site of the bloodshed was a home hospice/health care company. Several at the scene reported that McAree Canada was Kempf’s supervisor.

A single shot issued by Dallas police/first responders was solely to break the glass of a locked office door, Assistant Police Chief Randall Blankenbaker said in a press conference yesterday. One officer incurred minor injuries from the shattered glass and was transported to the hospital.
