According to a new Facebook group, “100 Women of Lake Highlands is a group of 100+ women who live in Lake Highlands and are passionate about the community.”
I’m not sure who is behind the idea (though I messaged them over the weekend to find out, I haven’t received a reply) but it goes like this.
“Women will gather two times in 2016 (four times per year in future years) for a one-hour meeting, where members will hear from fellow members about three local nonprofits and their projects and/or immediate needs within the Lake Highlands community. Present members then vote to select one of the charities, then each member (present and non-present) will write a $100 check to that selected charity. This combined donation is intended to make a positive and meaningful impact in the community we live. We are hosting an upcoming social to provide you with more details about this amazing group, we’d love it if you’d join! Just PM us your address and we’ll send you an invite!”
