P1010810Before the world stopped to mark the 50th anniversary of JFK’s death in Dallas, a party was held downtown at Eddie Deen’s ranch to host the elite who’d be at the center of the remembrances. Entertaining the guests was Lake Highlands’ own Wildcat Wranglers.

Several of the Wranglers had their picture made with Roger Staubach, honorary chairman of the festivities, and they taught a few dance moves to Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings. Their biggest fans, though, knew a thing or two about entertaining a crowd – the U.S. Naval Academy Glee Club.

The midshipmen were in town to sing in Dealey Plaza immediately following the moment of silence to mark President Kennedy’s death. Their performance of “God Bless America” held the world spellbound as they sang on live TV with grace and dignity. You can watch it here.

staubachOn Nov. 21, however, the guys were hootin’ and hollerin’, many standing in their chairs to clap and cheer for the dancers. By the end of the evening, most took to the floor to learn the Wranglers’ Texas boot scootin’ ways.
