The Community of Hope event — part of an effort to raise awareness and to educate people about food, about how to eat healthy, in a way that will prevent obesity and related illnesses, and how to find and utilize social and charity food programs — drew some 300 community members, organizer Dabney Dwyer says.

It was a success thanks to the many groups that joined to make it so, she says.

“Watermark (Church) provided the bounce house, a snow cone machine and popcorn machine. (Episcopal Church of the) Ascension had 53 volunteers, all ages and races and about another 20-30 so volunteers were provided by Dallas Community Lighthouse/Kids U and The New Room.”

Dabney also wants to thank, heartily, ID Walker, a local business man who lives in Town Creek who brought his wife Keri Walker and son Taylor with girlfriend Courtney to the event and provided samples of a low cost, healthy meatloaf, provided free balloons, and a booklet of low cost, healthy recipes.
