Lake Highlands resident and local celebrity chef Brian C. Luscher — of the Grape restaurant and Post Oak Red Hot hot dog fame — recently has lent his creativity and skill to a very worthy cause — our neighborhood doughnut shop.

His contribution is not a doughnut, but an impressive-sounding biscuit combination for Hypnotic Donuts.

Luscher’s Hypnotic Red Hots, which go on sale today (Wednesday), are oak-smoked all-natural pork/beef sausage that is wrapped in Hypnotic biscuit dough, layered with cheddar cheese and a thin layer of spicy mustard topped with poppy seed, sea salt and a pickled Serrano pepper.
