Lake Highlands resident, Realtor and certified North Texas Master Naturalist Jay Forrester snapped this photo of a blotched water snake or Nerodia erythrogaster transversa at the White Rock Lake shoreline along W. Lawther.
He says a lot of people might mistake it for a diamondback, but he’s sticking with his initial assessment.
Like potential drowning and brain-eating amoeba, snakes offer another good reason to not put your body in White Rock Lake.
This one, like most water snakes, is not venomous and won’t bite unless you do something really dumb like try to pick him up.
