Lake Highlands United Methodist Church will host a new program this fall called “Five Conversations You Must Have With Your Daughter.” The bible study and discussion will be led by Vicki Courtney and facilitated by Sue Moisan and is designed for mothers of girls 18 and younger.
The group will address the way the world views women and girls, and they’ll help moms equip their daughters to stand firm in the media age of Britney, Paris, and Lindsay. Their five messages: you are more than what people see on the outside; you shouldn’t be in a hurry to grow up; sex is great and worth the wait; it’s OK to dream about marriage and motherhood; and girls gone wild are a dime a dozen.
The program is open to non-church members and will be held Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm beginning September 9 in the bride’s room of the church, 9015 Plano Road near Walnut Hill. The cost is $18, though scholarships are available, and childcare is provided with a reservation. To find out more, contact Amy Thompson.
