Some of you may have heard that Lake Highlands High School principal Bob Iden had a heart attack this weekend, only a couple of days after announcing that he will be retiring from his position at the end of the year. I’ve received everything from cheery to critical reports, so I called his administrative assistant, Karen Clardy, to get the real scoop.

After some routine yardwork on Sunday morning, Iden wasn’t feeling well so drove himself to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that he was undergoing a heart attack and put a stint in. Iden was in ICU yesterday, but they moved him to a regular room this morning. "He’s  doing real well and sounds real strong," Clardy says. "I imagine he’ll be home in a day or two."

I guess the decision to leave Lake Highlands High School literally broke his heart. (Bad joke, I know, but I’m making it only now that we know he’s doing well — and anyone who knows Iden knows that he appreciates a good laugh.)
