Food will be available on weekdays from June 7-25, and on weekdays from July 12-30.

“Richardson ISD children need good nutrition year-round so they can learn, grow and succeed in life,” said Alissa Gustof, RISD executive director of Child Nutrition in a May 17 release. “With nearly 2 million food insecure children living in Texas, these healthy meals are vital to nourishing young Texans during the summer vacation.”

Breakfast and lunch will be available at Big Springs Elementary, Forest Lane Elementary, Prestonwood Elementary, Richland Elementary, Richardson Heights Elementary, RISD Academy, White Rock Elementary and Berkner STEM Academy High School.

In June, breakfast will be available at elementary schools from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. The breakfast period will be shortened to 7:30-8 a.m. in July at elementary schools.

Berkner will have breakfast available from 7:30–8:30 a.m. and lunch from 12:15–1 p.m. in June.

The next month, the high school will only provide meals Monday-Thursday. Breakfast meals will be available from 8-8:30 a.m. and lunch will be available from 12:30-1 p.m. during that time.

Funding for the meals comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture nutrition program, administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture, the district shared in the release.

More information on the meal distribution is available on RISD’s website.
