After consulting with Dallas County Health and Human Services, Richardson ISD is in the process of implementing new quarantine options for students and staff who have been exposed to COVID-19, but are not symptomatic and have not tested positive.

This comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced options in early December to reduce the length of a 14-day quarantine. The district was awaiting guidance from the county before taking action.

RISD will implement the following options:

  • Quarantine can end after the completion of 10 quarantine days for exposed students and staff without symptoms.
  • Employees can choose to return to work after seven quarantine days provided they meet the required criteria. This option is only available to employees in their roles as essential workers.

Students and staff who return to school under a revised quarantine option must continue daily symptom monitoring through day 14.

With RISD’s quarantine updates being optional, parents and employees may still choose to quarantine for 14 days, if desired.
