With just three regular season games left to play, Lake Highlands High School is sitting pretty at the top of 7-6A. Friday night, the undefeated Wildcats proved they are playoff-ready, beating Berkner 58-14.
Senior quarterback Mitch Coulson didn’t play against the Rams, but the Bell Boys got no reprieve from touchdown celebrations. Junior Caden Dotson passed for 167 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for another. Running back Noelle Whitehead had two receiving touchdowns and two on the ground, rushing for 223 yards and averaging 25 yards per carry.
There’s no word yet from Coach Lonnie Jordan on which talented QB will start the game this week against Irving Nimitz (1-3) in Irving. Coulson sustained a leg injury during the first half of the Pearce game ten days ago, but he returned strong to play the full second half after Dotson’s masterful performance.
Thanksgiving Wednesday, the Cats play a rare 1 p.m. home game against Richardson (3-1) after COVID delayed the start of the season. The Eagles are now tied with Jesuit for second in district, and winning that game would like clinch a district championship for LHHS. Go Cats.
