Great storytelling by older writers from this area is on tap at the Ageless Authors event Saturday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m.

This event launching the group’s new anthology takes place at the Half Price Books Flagship store. Six Dallas-area writers age 65 and older will read their works, sign books and offer tips on writing for publication.

Each author will read their stories from the anthology “Dang, I Wish I Hadn’t Done That,” a collection of 34 stories and poems all penned by senior writers.

Kirkus Reviews has called the book “A vibrant collection of pieces by an eclectic group of older writers…”

OnlineBookClub.org wrote: “A display of courage and vision, this remarkable collection of stories and poems could be a step forward in laying the foundation for a new literary field that reflects the wisdom and experience of seniority.”

Those who attend the event will receive a special 2 for 1 book deal. Purchase the current anthology for $15.95 and receive the group’s first collection free of charge. For those unable to attend, the special is available at AgelessAuthors.com.

Dang publisher Ageless Authors is a unique writers’ group based in Dallas that works exclusively with senior authors around the world.

“This generation of older people has some wonderful stories to tell and Ageless Authors has the best of the best,” says Upshaw, a Lake Highlands resident and long-time author, journalist, and marketing executive who heads the group. “Seniors have a lot to say to people of all ages, and they say it in very creative ways.”

Upshaw says thousands of publications accept submissions, but the others all favor young writers.

“An obvious vacuum existed in the publishing world before we initiated our first writing contest four years ago,” he says. “The response to our contests has been tremendous, from older writers worldwide, who tell us we are the only game in town for their creative expression.”

Ageless Authors anthologies include fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Various competitions offer prize monies.
