Twelve Lake Highlands-area students will perform in the musical Annie this weekend, part of the Creative Arts for Christ summer lineup. The show runs 30 minutes – perfect for young audience members with a passion for live theater and others whose fidgeting can only be kept in check so long.
Wallace Elementary 4th grader Selah Grace Thompson is cast in the title role, and Wallace 5th grader Samuel Hastings plays Oliver Warbucks. Asher Lee, Saylor Smith, Annabelle Greenberg, Avery Range, Harrison Kennedy, Allison Hasenbauer, Lauren Miller, Jackson Smith, Leila Shelton and Ellie Simpson are also cast members.
Behind the scenes, familiar faces play leadership roles. Crystal Griffith, C.A.C. founder and executive director, is known to LH audiences as two-time director of A.C.T. (Actors of Christian Talent) productions at Lake Highlands Methodist Church. Hannah Hillard, 4th grade teacher at Wallace, is one of the Annie directors.
You can catch Annie at the Allen Civic Auditorium Aug. 3 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Aug. 4 at 2. Tickets cost $15 and are available online here.
