The Mayoral runoff election between Scott Griggs and Eric Johnson will be held June 8. Griggs and Johnson were the two candidates that received the highest percentage of votes in May’s election. They are both vying to succeed Mayor Mike Rawlings, who is term-limited.

Griggs has been on the Dallas City Council representing Oak Cliff since 2011. As part of the council Griggs is the vice chairman of the Government Performance and Financial Management Committee, and a member of both the Economic Development and Housing Committee and the Quality of Life, Arts and Culture committee.

Johnson represents Dallas District 100 in the Texas House of Representatives and serves on four committees: he is the vice chairman of the House Committee on Redistricting; he is a member of the House Committee on Ways and Means; he is a member of the House Committee on Investments and Financial Services; and he is a member of the House Select Committee on State and Federal Power and Responsibility.

District 10 Councilman Adam McGough has shown his support for Johnson throughout the election cycle.
