The Cliburn International Junior Piano Competitionbrings remarkable teenage pianist from around the globe to Dallas. The competition runs from May 31st to June 8th. A free showcase will be held at NorthCourt in NorthPark. NorthCourt is on level one between Nordstrom and Macy’s. This showcase takes place on June 6th at 4pm to share great music with the community. The Cliburn Junior Competition rounds takes place in three different spots in the Dallas area.
Purchase tickets for the competition through the Cliburn websiteor the Dallas Symphony Box Office. Semifinal round tickets are $20 per concert. The final round tickets sell for $19-$99. The Cliburn is selling a final round party bus ticket package which includes one concert, the award ceremony ticket and party bus round trip transportation.
The 24 competitors were handpicked from over 200 applicants. The applicants were from 32 different countries. Competitors represent countries such as; China, Japan, Canada, Armenia, Russia, Hong Kong, Australia, Russia, South Korea and Taiwan. Finalist go through 4 rounds of competition. The 13-to-17-year-olds present their musical talent at the semi-finals round at SMU’s Caruth Auditorium and the final round is at the Meyerson Symphony Center.
The Cliburn Junior Competition premiered in 2015 in Fort Worth. This will be the first time the competition is held in Dallas.
