Here’s three ways to spend the first weekend of 2019

Take your children to the theater. “The Snowy Day and Other Stories” by Ezra Jack Keats is at the Dallas Children’s Theater at the Rosewood Center for Family Arts, Friday, Jan 4, at 1:30 p.m.

Celebrate Sherlock Holmes’ birthday Sunday, Jan. 6, without traveling to 221B Baker St. in London. Instead head to the Dallas Arboretum at 6 p.m. for a mystery and meal. The event costs $125-$140.

The last day to see The Trains at NorthPark is Sunday. The miniature toy trains roll across 1,600 feet of track featuring Dallas’ Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, the State Fair of Texas and the Cotton Bowl. The event costs $4-$7.
