For just a second, Lake Highlands Elementary students wondered if bus driver Curtis Jenkins was actually Santa Claus. The bus was stocked with wrapped toys, puzzles and even a bike for all 70 students on Jenkins’ bus.

Students didn’t know Jenkins made notes after they rattled off holiday gift ideas. Or that he saved money for months to buy them each a present.

“When I opened that door, one of the kids asked me, ‘Are you Santa?’” Jenkins told NBC5. “Seeing those faces on the kids was more than anything I could ever do with the money.”

Jenkins told NBC5 that he considered holding a gift exchange. But his wife, Shaneqia, mentioned some kids couldn’t afford to bring a present. Without hesitation, they purchased the presents themselves.

“I hung up the phone with him, I went over to my husband, and I put my head on his chest, and I just cried,” parent Katrina Clift said to the news outlet. “It makes me feel like I belong, and I mean something to this community, especially to the people who love my children.”

Jenkins’ actions has unsurprisingly gone viral, with even Yahoo and ABC highlighting Jenkins’ generosity.

“I’m not at a job; I’m on a mission from God,” Jenkins told NBC5. “I don’t say anything about religion to the kids. I just let them know whatever they love is fine with me, just love somebody on the way.”
