Talking to Santa
If you haven’t been attending Light Up the Highlands, Lake Highlands’ Christmas tree lighting ceremony, you’ve been missing the community’s most enjoyable holiday festival. But if you show up the Sunday after Thanksgiving at the traditional location in the Lake Highlands Recreation Center Park, you’ll miss all the fun.
With construction continuing on the new Family Aquatics Center, Lake Highlands Junior Women’s League members have moved their 4th annual event to the Town Center. They’ll have balloon artists, face painters, kids’ crafts, cookie decorating, carolers, a holiday movie and a visit from Santa – complete with live reindeer.
Long about dark is when the real magic happens. That’s when the lights are flipped on for the Christmas tree, and they’ll be lit every evening from 5:30 to 2 a.m. until mid-January.

The Reverse Food Truck will be onsite to accept food donations for the Vickery Meadow Food Pantry, including tuna, peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti, and chicken noodle soup.
Light Up the Highlands is free and will run from 4-6 p.m. on Nov. 25 at Lake Highlands Town Center, Skillman at Walnut Hill.
