For as much as we’ve written about the city’s recycling efforts, did you know that you can tour ground zero of Dallas’ recycling effort for free with a group? Call Wendy Chance at 469-620-0971 to set up a tour.

The pictured group of environmentally conscious Lake Highland residents recently paid a visit to the FCC Environmental Services recycling facility in South Dallas to see city clean-up efforts in person.

Some members of this LH group also spearhead an annual recycling and paper-shredding event Oct. 20 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church. Accepted items include most electronics, toys, sporting goods, multimedia, books and clothing. Not accepted are old TVs, old computer monitors and furniture. Recycling items are accepted without charge; shredding is $5 per box.
