Dallas Police Officer Jerry Tames was charged with harassment, family violence and repeated violation of a protective order. Tames, a four-year veteran of the South Central Division, was arrested twice in July after reportedly assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, a Lake Highlands resident. He allegedly forced his ex-girlfriend into a car and bruised her ribs and wrists. He also repeatedly called her and showed up at her house, despite being served an emergency protective order, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Loud music was the catalyst of a shooting at the Villas at La Risa, located in the 12800 block of Jupiter Road. A man and a woman were listening to music at her apartment at about 11 p.m., according to the Morning News. As the man headed to his own apartment, a group of people complained about the music. One even held a baseball bat. The man returned with a gun, which he fired as a warning. One of the shots ricocheted off the ground and hit one person in the leg. The victim, whose condition was unknown, was taken to the hospital.
