A Mesquite police officer found Blade next to a building in the 12100 block of Self Plaza Drive. Blade then “aggressively assaulted the officer,” according to police. He took the officer’s weapon away and pointed it at him. At that point, four other officers fired multiple rounds at Blade.

Blade was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The injured officer has been released from the hospital after suffering multiple fractures to the face.

Three Mesquite police officers and two Garland police officers were involved in the incident.
