When Maribeth Punjak and Skye Wofford head off to college in the fall, it will be the first time since elementary school they’ll be playing on different teams. Punjak has signed to play with Austin College in Sherman, and Wofford will travel to Brownwood to suit up for Howard Payne University.
“I’ve wanted to play college ball since I was little,” says Wofford, “so finally being able to do so is more than I could ever image.
“It’s a dream come true,” agrees Punjak. “It’s a great feeling to know that I’ve found a second home at Austin College and I look forward to being a Lady Roo.”
The girls first became teammates on Andy Pell’s Rockets FC club team before making the Lake Highlands High School squad.
Also committing to play college ball on April National Signing Day was Zach Fininen, who’ll play football for Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie. Fininen played defensive back for the Wildcats.
Congratulations all.
