With the temperature skyrocketing to a rather miserable 104 degrees this weekend, here are a few fun events that don’t require gross amounts of sunscreen.

Watch a performance at the Bath House Cultural Center. “Lilies” is a French-Canadian play about a man reliving his childhood after meeting a longtime incarcerated friends. The show is slated Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $29. Get all the details here.

The African Children’s Choir is serenading Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church attendees at 9 or 11 a.m. services. Hear a medley of children’s songs, spirituals and gospel favorites. The concert is free to attend.

The Mayor’s Summer Reading Challenge kicks off June 2 at 2 p.m. at the Audelia Road Library. Learn more here. 

If you’re willing to brave the unbearable heat, head to Klyde Warren Park for Voly in the Park, a volunteerism festival with 75 nonprofit agencies, volunteer projects, music, dancing, and more than 5,000 attendees. The event will be Saturday from noon-4 p.m. The Dallas Arboretum and many more will be there, so head down to get matched with a place to serve.
