At the Advocate — like most publications — we start planning content months before the magazine reaches your doorstep. As we wrap up our May edition, we’re writing stories for the June issue and planning our July publication.

And so, readers, we’d like your help.

We’re calling all environmentalists, longtime neighbors and tree huggers in Lake Highlands for a feature about (you guessed it) trees. Maybe you recall a particularly unpleasant storm that wreaked havoc on the towering plants  or remember a quirky saga similar to the beloved elm-turned-table that once lived outside the Bath House Cultural Center. Perhaps your story ideas are more personal, and you still drive past the tree that was the backdrop of your homecoming photos. However unconventional or nostalgic your recommendations may be, we’re all ears.

The Advocate also is seeking suggestions of five fierce women from Lake Highlands for our July women’s issue. We’re looking for entrepreneurs, philanthropists, creatives and anyone who can help us get ahold of Annie Clark, the rock star and Lake Highlands native known as St. Vincent. (Seriously, though.)

Email echudwin@advocatemag.com with your ideas.
