Kids PJ party, Hope for the Holidays, 12 Days of Christmas and more things to do this weekend

This Sunday, Dec. 17, Ascension Episcopal Church helps bring the Christmas story to life with their annual live Nativity scene reenactment. There will be performances at both 5 and 6 p.m. at AEC along with a petting zoo.

Our neighborhood has its own version of “A Christmas Carol,” performed every year since 1982. “Joe Dickinson’s Ebenezer Scrooge” is a musical version of the classic show, that can be seen at Pocket Sandwich Theater through Dec. 23. Shows take place Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 1 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $28-$30 and available here.

Head to Northwest Community Center for a Myanmar Christmas at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Expect Burmese music and other cultural celebration.

Science and Christmas come together for Santa Runs on STEAM on Saturday from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Scofield Christian. The day is packed with experiments and lessons with a holiday twist. Tickets, available here, are $60 and include hot cocoa and lunch.

For those who might not being feeling the holiday season, Lake Highlands United Methodist Church will host
Blue Christmas on Sunday from 5-6 p.m.

Dallas First Assembly of God’s choir will present “The Gift of Christmas” with seasonal songs during worship n Sunday from 10 a.m.-noon.

Parents and children can work together to build a gingerbread house this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Dallas Arboretum. The activity is $50 per house. Or swing by at night between 6-9 p.m. for Holiday at the Arboretum, which brings the “12 Days of Christmas” to life.
