Trunk or Treat

This Sunday join the Lake Highlands United Methodist Church for their annual Trunk or Treat Chili Cook Off from 5-7 p.m. to enjoy award winning chili and great fellowship.  The event is open to all members of the Lake Highlands community, so dust off that secret family recipe and make sure to rsvp.

On Wednesday (Oct. 25), you have an easy chance to support the students at Lake Highlands Elementary. Head to Slims Chicken on Park Lane any time between 4-8 p.m. and a portion of proceeds will benefit the school — just make sure you drop your receipt in the canister at the register for it to count.

The Dallas Storytelling Guild presents an evening of seriously spooky stories at the Bath House Cultural Center in Lake Highlands Friday at 7 p.m. The terrifying tales are suggested for adults only and are not for the faint of heart. Tickets will be $10 at the door. On Saturday, the group hosts a “Children’s Spooky Tales” concert at 2 p.m.

Moss Haven Elementary hosts its annual Moss Haven Madness Carnival this Saturday from 4-7 p.m. The event will feature a cake walk, haunted house and various other scintillating activities. Wristbands are on sale now for $25 and grant unlimited access to all the carnival activities.  

Grab a costume and head to the Skillman Southwestern Library this Saturday from 2-4 p.m. for an afternoon of child-appropriate Halloween stories, games and snacks.

If you are in need of family friendly fun this Halloween weekend, the Teen Scene Players will be putting on a petrifying performance at the Dallas Children’s Theatre Friday at 7:30 p.m.  The ghastly group will be performing works by Edgar Allen Poe and W.W. Jacobs, and is recommended for theatergoers ages 12 and up.    

Stock up on sweets this Halloween with your family by trick-or-treating through the beautiful Dallas Arboretum.  Autumn at the Arboretum will be open for all trick-or-treaters on Saturday and Sunday from 10-4 p.m.

St. James Pumpkin Patch presents A Patch With A Purpose whose proceeds provide summer camp scholarships, Bibles, warm meals, and much more to less fortunate members of our Dallas  community.  The Pumpkin Patch’s Trunk or Treat is a two decade old tradition, this year set for Saturday at 5:30 p.m. 

The Harvest Festival at Lake Highlands St. Patrick’s Church will take place Saturday, from noon-5 p.m. It will feature an assortment of activities which appeal to all ages including face painting, bounce houses, inflatable slides, rock climbing and a zip line. Food and drink vendors will also be present and all proceeds will benefit the St. Patrick’s School.

If you’re looking for a more adult experience, King’s X on Forest Lane is hosting a costume contest at 10 p.m. on Saturday. Winner gets a $50 bar tab.

City View Antique Mall at 6830 Walling Lane hosts its annual flea market on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. More than 100 vendors from across North Texas will take part, and the sale takes place rain or shine.
