Skillman traffic shut down during police/fire investigation

The burning house at the corner of Gunnison and Skillman

Dallas Police and Fire shut down Skillman Avenue at Gunnison Drive near Mi Cocina Wednesday afternoon when the area became both a crime scene and a fire site. The incident began at a home in the 9100 block of Gunnison just before 1 p.m. in what officials are now calling a domestic dispute.

Complete details aren’t yet known, but two men and one woman were home at the time. During the dispute, one man was stabbed. While he and the woman escaped, the other man holed up in the garage and the garage caught on fire or was set on fire. Firefighters were not able to save the man in the garage and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors say the family has lived in the home for more than 30 years.
