Lake Highlands United Methodist Church’s Artists of Christian Talent will host auditions for Fiddler on the Roof

Lake Highlands United Methodist Church’s ACT (Artists of Christian Talent) program is preparing to host auditions for its upcoming production of Fiddler on the Roof, and producers will be hosting a parent informational meeting Sunday, Nov. 13 to explain the process. The 2017 show will be ACT’s 42nd production – a chance for students to be a part of LH’s rich heritage of Broadway-style entertainment.

“Even though ACT productions have always been staged at LHUMC, it is not a ministry for only LHUMC members,” explained Exchange Club President Greg Duval in 2015, presenting ACT founder Jeri Johnston with its Unsung Hero Award. “Young people can begin participating in 7th grade and typically return every year until graduation. The ACT organization affords kids the chance to build self-confidence, team work and discipline. Short devotionals are as much a staple of rehearsals as script reads, blocking and ‘let’s try that again.’”

Auditions will be held at LHUMC at 1:30 p.m. and are open to all students in 7th-12th grades. All who audition are cast onstage or on tech crew (their choice). Students should bring their resume, a conflict calendar and a check for $75 (onstage) or $50 (tech crew). Scholarships are available.

Rehearsals begin January 2 and are held Monday-Thursday evenings from 6-9 p.m. and some Saturdays. Performances will be held at the church Feb. 10, 11, 12, 15, 16 and 17. Break a leg, ACTors!
