Adam and Lacy McGough with Noah, Cooper and Eli

Lacy McGough stays busy with her duties as mom of three boys and wife of Dallas City Councilman Adam McGough, but she jumped at the chance for a recent tour of the Healing Hands Ministries clinic, an opportunity, she said, to see firsthand the clinic she and her husband had been supporting. During the tour, Communications Director Sylvia Bodell updated Lacy about HHM’s upcoming 7th Annual Golf Classic at Lakewood Country Club, and Lacy revealed that she had been a member of her high school golf team. It wasn’t long before Lacy – and Adam – agreed to serve together as Honorary Chairmen of the event on Monday, October 24th.

“We’re honored to be asked to serve,” Lacy told me over lunch at Shady’s Burgers. “Adam plays golf quite a bit, and I do enjoy it, but I haven’t had time to keep it up. My boys enjoy playing – they’ve gone to golf camp the past three summers – and our end goal is for the family to play together.”

The McGoughs have three sons, Noah (almost 10), Cooper (8) and Eli (3 ½).

“I wanted to get involved with Healing Hands after meeting Janna and hearing her story,” Lacy told me. “Touring the clinic and visiting with doctors, nurses and patients really resonated with me.”

In addition to the “normal, everyday” medical visits of a growing family, Eli was born with an extra thumb, removed at age 2, and has serious breathing issues which require frequent treatment and a recent sinus surgery.

“Every time he gets the sniffles, it goes straight to his lungs,” said Lacy.

Check-in for the Healing Hands Ministries Golf Classic begins at 10:30 a.m. and shotgun start for the 18-hole 4-man scramble is at 12 noon.  Participation includes deli lunch, BBQ supper on the terrace and plenty of prizes.
