After one resident notified us that several of his neighbors’ homes had been burglarized in the past several weeks, we did a little digging through police reports and found at least four daytime break-ins at single-family residences in the past two weeks in the Lake Highlands vicinity.
There also have been a handful of break-ins at neighborhood apartment units.
In all of the burglaries, the thieves pry their way in through a back door or broken door panel or, in a few cases, break glass, to gain entry before stealing electronics and other valuables.
“We are up in residential burglaries,” says Lt. Joseph K. Sowell. “I won’t refer to it as a crime spree — may be related to an increase in crimes we usually see when school is out.”
Sowell says no arrests have been made in any of the following offenses. Below are dates and addresses of burglaries, all of which occurred during the daytime. Due to some imperfections in Dallas’ police reporting system, the list is not comprehensive.
