The long vacant lot at the corner of Meadow Road and I-75, previously filled with berms of dirt and construction vehicles, is on its way to becoming a hotel.

In May, Dallas’ Meadow Hospitality applied for an appeal from the city’s Board of Adjustments for an exception to the number of parking spots a hotel on that property would be required to provide. Based on its mixed-use zoning (MU-3 for those who speak development code), the project should include 131 parking spaces on the 1.27-acre site. Developers are hoping to instead build 116 spots, a 12 percent reduction of the total number required by city codes.

Details in the application are limited, and Maxwell Fisher, the principal listed on city documents, did not immediately return a call for more information on the project, but I will update the story if I hear from him.

If built, the hotel would be one of about a half-dozen that line either side of Central Expressway through and near our neighborhood.
