Few education trends are hotter right now than school gardens. They get kids outside, teach the importance of healthy eating and offer hands-on learning. Now, the students at Highland Meadows Elementary School are getting in on the action with a newly build shaded outdoor classroom thanks to REAL School Gardens and local Bank of America associates.
A team of volunteers prepped the ground, planted a variety of flowers and vegetables and added a pergola for shade. The result is a place where students can learn and explore. REAL School Gardens trains teachers on how to use the space to enhance their classroom studies.
The Bank of America contributed $10,000 to bring the garden to fruition.
