The pink potty lands at the home of Mark and Maurie Gray

Don’t be alarmed if you find a potty on your front lawn this month. Jennifer and Reed Wilcox are raising money for CCFA, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, and they want to make a big splash to grab your attention.

“I’ve been moving a pink potty from yard to yard for the past couple of weeks,” Reed says, “and will continue until our goal of $7,800 has been reached.”

Reed says he and Jennifer are motivated to support CCFA in honor of their 13-year-old nephew, currently grappling with the disease, and her dad, who was diagnosed with Crohn’s this year at age 69. Neighbor April Gorman gets it – her dad’s Crohn’s interferes with treatment for his Parkinson’s. Reed admits he got the potty idea from the internet (“I’m not that creative myself”) and includes instructions for the homeowner to donate $50 to have the toilet removed or $100 to have it relocated to the yard of a friend.

“Participation has been 100%,” says Reed, “and most choose to bother a neighbor. There have been many funny pictures posted to Facebook, and I cannot tell you how grateful we are to live in Lake Highlands.”
